The project aims at developing the research capacity and knowledge transfer of complementary research structures existing at consortium level dedicated to studies related to the quality of the built environment, through their cohesion in the form of an advanced research group for Energy Efficient Innovative Technologies and Sustainability of the Built Environment for further harmonization with the Smart Digital Campus facilities and know-how. The final objective of the involved partners is to highlight the competences of these complementary research team of RDI Project 3, thus achieving a pole of knowledge and competitiveness dedicated to innovation in the field of quality of the built environment.
The objectives of the project are to create a state-of-the-art research infrastructure, managed by best researchers from the built environment ecosystem based on 4 pillars: integrative design, digitalization, circularity and clean energy. The aim is to develop the sustainability of the built environment, which is based on innovative research directions and high-tech infrastructure.
The existence of such a structure, with multiple visibility strengthened nationally and internationally, will open new perspectives of research representing a landmark of formation and career development of young researchers and confirmed researchers in the country and abroad.
The general objectives of the project aim to bring together key stakeholders and to create an excellence pole in Smart and Sustainable Buildings: (1). Enhanced transition to the next generation of cost-efficient, net zero emissions, sustainable buildings through innovative tools and services for decision makers; (2). Efficient integration of smart technologies, renewable energy sources and storage solutions in innovative integrated design concepts; (3). Faster transformation of buildings to be capable to adapt to different occupant profiles and needs, improving air quality, human health and well-being; (4). Improved skills and competences among building professionals to support a rapid uptake of zero emissions buildings and cities.
